Many times I forget to pray about interactions, problems, actions, encounters, or endeavors. And it’s when I forget and take things upon myself that I stumble the most, encountering more temptation and failure than otherwise. Today I remembered to pray upon an important phone call, and most thankful that I did. It could have easily escalated out of control, but God held me steady and helped me control myself. Prayer about work and home life is important to God, I’m sure of it. Just as He knows the number of the hairs on our heads, I’m sure he knows the struggles of our day. I’m reminded of Colossians and the instructions for Masters to bondservants, and to continue steadfast in prayer. Because otherwise we can get ourselves into heaps of trouble and fall victim to our own evil nature and stray from The Way.
Colossians 4:1–2 (ESV): Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
